A COMPARISON OF THE EFFECTS OF TEACHING PATIENCE, PROBLEM SOLVING, AND THE COMBINED METHOD ON STUDENTS' HARDNESS IN ON OF MILITARY UNIVERSITY

Abstract

 Introduction: Psychological stress is a common incident in human societies. Different variables affect the reaction of people to psychological stress, one of which is hardness. Hardness contains three elements, COMMITMENT, CONTROL, and CHALLENGING. This research is intended to compare the effects of teaching PATIENCE, PROBLEM SOLVING, and the combined method on students’ hardness.Method: To conduct the study, 80 students of a university were selected through multistage cluster method. The research plan contained pretest, posttest, CONTROL group and experimental group. The subjects were classified into four groups randomly. After the pretest, group one was exposed to teaching PATIENCE, the second group to PROBLEM SOLVING, the third group to the combined method, and the last one, the CONTROL group, to no teaching. The results were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics.Results: The research results indicated that teaching PATIENCE was more effective than PROBLEM SOLVING and the combined method.Discussion: Application of the combined method of teaching PATIENCE and PROBLEM SOLVING helped the students cope with their psychological stress, an inevitable part of social and educational life, significantly.
