Title

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EDUCATION- BASED AND RESEARCH- BASED CURRICULUM AT PRIMARY SCHOOL LEVEL

Abstract

 The main purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of education- based and RESEARCH- BASED CURRICULUM at primary school level. The third grade primary school female students in Urmia were the statistical population of this research including 50 people who were selected randomly using multiple cluster sampling. The research methodology was quasi-experimental. In order to collect data, post-test with experts’ acceptable validity and reliability of 68%, and check lists of observing activities with experts’ acceptable validity and reliability of 98% were used. These check lists were completed by 4 BA primary school teachers. The students were randomly assigned into two groups. One group was taught via education-based method and the other group was instructed via research-based method for two months. Control for confounding variables in addition to the random assignment of teachers in both groups were used. To compare two research based and education based methods Mann Whitney u-Test was used. The main results showed that there is a significant difference between events, skills, attitudes and satisfactions of research based students and those of education based and the research hypothesis was accepted, therefore the research based curriculum is more effective than training based curriculum.
