COMPARISON OF OFFICIAL AND HIDDEN CURRICULUM OF THIRD GRADE PRIMARY SCHOOL “SOCIAL EDUCATION” (TEXT BOOK IN RELATION TO SOCIAL SKILLS ACQUISITION)

Abstract

 This study sought to compare the official and HIDDEN CURRICULUM of third grade primary school “Social Education” text book in relation to SOCIAL SKILLS acquisition. The statistical population included all third grade primary teachers of Karaj educational district 4 in the scholastic year of 1389-90 (783 teachers). The sample consisted of 258 teachers selected based on cluster method. The research design was of comparative type and data were gathered through a 50-item researcher-made questionnaire with a reliability index of 0.895. The gathered data were analyzed through SPSS. Descriptive analysis included frequency, percentage, average etc, and inferential included t-test. Results with %99 certainty of teachers and experts were the following: comparison of official and HIDDEN CURRICULUM in relation to their own behavior indicated no significant difference between official and HIDDEN CURRICULUM; comparison of official and HIDDEN CURRICULUM in relation to environment indicated significant difference between official and HIDDEN CURRICULUM which is in favor of OFFICIAL CURRICULUM; comparison of official and HIDDEN CURRICULUM in relation to occupational behavior indicated no significant difference between official and HIDDEN CURRICULUM; comparison of official and HIDDEN CURRICULUM in relation to inter-personal behaviors indicated significant difference between official and HIDDEN CURRICULUM which is in favor of OFFICIAL CURRICULUM.
