INVESTIGATION OF COPING STRATEGIES WITH STRESS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE (CASE STUDY OF IAU, BOOSHEHR BRANCH STUDENTS)

Abstract

 The aim of this study was to investigate COPING STRATEGIES with STRESS and it’s relation with students’ academic achievement in IAU, Booshehr Branch. The study was a descriptive-post eventual research. 350 of students were selected through categorical sampling. Data Analysis indicated that students used intellectual, emotional and avoidance strategies. Female students used intellectual and discharge strategies. There was significant positive relationship between the intellectual coping strategy and academic performance; and there was also significant negative relationship between the emotional strategy and academic performance. Students used intellectual and problem-solving COPING STRATEGIES more than other strategies in STRESSful life situations and students who used more intellectual and less emotional strategies had better academic performance.
