Abstract

Individuals suffering this disorder always experience an intense chronic fear for being attended and investigated by others. To compare the efficiency of the three treatment methods of GRADUAL DESENSITIZATION, courage giving and integrative (GRADUAL DESENSITIZATION plus courage giving), and also to compare them to the control group, 320 affected subjects were assigned randomly in four experimental and control groups each consisting of 8 people. To distinguish SOCIAL ANXIETY syndromes, an interview and 5 questionnaires consisting scales of Zong Anxiety, Avoidance and Social Stress, Negative Evaluation Panic, courage giving questionnaire and therapist evaluation scale were utilized. These instruments were used before and after the treatments within three months. The results indicated that the above-mentioned techniques were effective only during the treatment and their efficiency decreased in follow-up. I was also evident that the integrative technique was more effective compared to the other two techniques.
