Abstract

 Background & Aims: Ageing critical period of human life is the increasing number of noncommunicable diseases such as CANCERs are predictable cases. In most cases Elderly Patients with CANCER addition to CANCER CHEMOTHERAPY for the treatment of diseases and syndromes associated with CANCER of various medicines that can increase the likelihood of DRUG INTERACTIONS, toxicity and side effects are. The aim of leading the prevalence of moderate and severe DRUG INTERACTIONS in the elderly undergoing CHEMOTHERAPY in CANCER patients referred to Imam Khomeini hospital in Ardebil.Materials & Methods: Cross - sectional study on 102 elderly people who are aged 60 years and older was conducted. A list of medications the patient by using medical records, relatives and patient himself prepared, Drug–drug interactions were screened with Drug Interaction Facts software, version 7.0.5.1.Potential interactions were graded by levels of severity (severe, moderate) and Onset of action (rapid and delayed). The data were entered into SPSS software and descriptive statistics were presented.Results: Of the potential interactions, 72.5% Total DRUG INTERACTIONS, 16.7% were classified as major and 55.9% as moderate. 44.1% is potential DRUG INTERACTIONS between dexamethasone and Abitanti. Most drugs prescribed CHEMOTHERAPY, adjuvant CHEMOTHERAPY drugs and drugs used to treat Comorbidities with warfarin DRUG INTERACTIONS.Conclusion: With increasing scientific knowledge of nurses and doctors from DRUG INTERACTIONS, alternative medicines may interact with other medications and by reducing the number of drugs can limit the number of DRUG INTERACTIONS and consequences of reduced.
