INVESTIGATING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CONFLICT MANAGEMENT STYLES AND THE STAFFS' JOB STRESS WITH THE AIM OF APPLYING THE APPROPRIATE MANAGEMENT STYLE IN FUTURE

Abstract

 This study is run with the aim of investigating the relationship between conflict MANAGEMENT STYLES and staffs' JOB STRESS in order to apply the appropriate management style in future on the basis of descriptive correlation method. The population includes all the staffs in technical and vocational colleges in Alborz province in 2011 which comprise 130 participants and the subjects are selected according to the simple random sampling on the basis of Morgan's table for determining the sample size. The data collection tools are two questionnaires; one is conflict resolution questionnaire which was presented by Weeks (1994) and Fisher and Ury (1991) and JOB STRESS questionnaire which is designed by Osipow (1987). The obtained results indicates that there is a meaningful and positive relationship between the competitive, avoidance and compromise conflict MANAGEMENT STYLES and staffs' JOB STRESS. On the other hand, there is no significant relationship between sacrificing and cooperative CONFLICT MANAGEMENT style and staffs' JOB STRESS.
