Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of MARITAL SATISFACTION and PSYCHOSOMATIC COMPLAINTS with the psychological wellbeing among the woman teachers in Shahrekourd. The research method was descriptive-correlative, and the statistical population included all female high school teachers from districts 1 and 2 in Sharekourd, from among whom 184 were selected via stratified random sampling method. The assessment tools included the symptom check list-90 (SCL-90) (Derogatis, Lipman & Covi., 1973), Enrich MARITAL SATISFACTION questionnaire (Soleymaninejad, 1994) and PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING questionnaire (Molavi, 2009). The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics (frequency, correlation coefficient) and inferential statistics (stepwise regression analysis). The results of the study showed that PSYCHOSOMATIC COMPLAINTS negatively correlated with MARITAL SATISFACTION (r=-0.397) and with PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING (r=-0.122). However, MARITAL SATISFACTION positively correlated with psychological well- being (r=0.294). Also, the results indicated that PSYCHOSOMATIC COMPLAINTS and MARITAL SATISFACTION together could significantly predict 8.6 percent of variance of psychological well- being.
