Abstract

The aim of this study was to predict psychological disorder symptoms based on RELIGIOUS BELIEFS and behaviors among girl students. In order to do this, 274 students were selected from Tabriz Islamic Azad University by multi-stage cluster sampling. Instruments included MABAD and Symptom Check List (SCL-90). Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regressions were used for data analysis. Results showed that there is a significant negative relationship between acting to duties with all dimensions of SCL except anxiety and obsession, and between acting to recommend and utilization of religion in decisions and choices with all dimensions of SCL except obsession as well. Also, there was a significant negative relationship between religious activities with depression, hypochondria and interpersonal sensitivity. In general, high scores on religiosity are associated with better mental health and fewer PSYCHOLOGICAL SYMPTOMS.
