Abstract

This study reviewed the effectiveness of teaching skills before marriage on the improvement of social skills and self-efficacy of the girls who were in the threshold of marriage and supported by Karaj Khomeini assistance committee. The method of research was semi-experimental and the research method was applied one. Statistical population included 450 girls of 15-28 Years old who were in the threshold of marriage. 40 of them were selected by convenient sampling and divided into two groups of experimental and control each containing 20 members. The instruments were two standard questionnaires: 1 Matson (1983) social skill questionnaire, 2. Scherer (1982) self-efficacy questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed through the covariance analysis. The results showed that the teaching of before marriage skills had an impact on the improvement of social skills and self-efficacy of the girls who were in the threshold of marriage. It also increased their insights and led to more desirable social skills, reduction of violence behavior and, increasing of intimately behavior far from violence. The treatment also increased the girls' self confidence and caused them to have a suitable relation with their coevals.
