Abstract

Due to urbanization, improved transportation and communication, increased leisure time, etc. TOURISM in rural environments is expanding and it can provide employment and development of services and facilities in rural areas. Toularam, Zanglab and Dehtalaj in CHEHELCHAY rural district in Minoodastht city is one of the prone areas for TOURISM and they have experienced many developments in the last two decades. This study aimed to assess the economic implications of Socio-economic TOURISM in these villages using questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that TOURISM has created some type of job variety esp. in village services as well as resulting in some changes in socio-economic activities in agriculture, rural income, and social awareness in villages. Having considered the potentials of villages in terms of their resources and pristine natural attractions, and their restrictions in economic sectors, particularly agriculture and livestock, it is necessary for decision makers and planners to investigate its future prospects based on rural TOURISM development.
