Title

MICROLEAKAGE OF THREE BONDING SYSTEMS IN ONE WEEK AND TEN MONTHS

Pages

  225-234

Abstract

Background and Aim: The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare MICROLEAKAGE of three BONDING SYSTEMS in one week and ten months. Methods &Materials: The study was conducted experimentally through observation technique. Two V shape cavities, with gingival margin in cementum were prepared on the buccal and lingual surfaces of 45 freshly extracted premolar teeth. The teeth were randomly divided into three groups and restored with Tetric Ceram composite, utilizing the following BONDING SYSTEMS: Single bond, Excite, and PQ1. One third of the specimens in each group were stored in distilled water for one week and the remaining was stored for ten months. All specimens were thermocycled (1000 times) and subjected to dye penetration testing. The results were analyzed by Manu - Whitney and Kruskal- Wallis tests. Results: Enamel leakage of Single bond did not differed through two periods while its gingival leakage in one week was less than ten months. But, no difference was noticed in enamel and cervical leakage of Excite and PQ1 samples in one week and ten months periods. Conclusion: Enamel leakage was significantly lower than gingival leakage. There was no significant difference between materials and water storage had detrimental effect on sealing ability.
