Abstract

Coronary heart disease is a growing health problem in the world. CHD, which consists of multiple interrelated RISK FACTORS, as well as lifestyle, increases the risk for mortality.A cross sectional study has been made with 494 WOMEN. A questionnaire was filled and demographic factors, weight and height and BP, baseline waist circumference (W.C) measured. We examined association between BMI and WHR with demographic factors, physical exercise, and quality of sleep and systolic and diastolic blood pressure.Prevalence of overweight and obesity and WHR were 30 %, 11.3 % and 83.8%.WHR. BMI increased with age and were higher in those who had upper levels of DBP, SBP, disease, hyperlipidemi, variant shift working and other factors. The study highlights high prevalence of abdominal obesity and BMI in woman.Cardiovascular diseases are associated with risks factors such as obesity and dyslipidemia. In this study, a high prevalence of overweight was observed. Physical activity was also shown to be inadequate. In conclusion, the potential for cardiovascular and metabolic health problems in future is high. It is recommended that an intervention, based on the results of the study, should and must be developed and implemented. The more challenging question is to know what to do and how to do it. A framework is suggested to guide the development of an intervention.
