IN FRENCH: L’ univers romanesque de Julien Green, cet é crivain catholique de l’ entre deux guerres est uniquement ré gi par une seule force: le mal sous toutes ses formes. Souffrant d’ une sorte de malaise accablante, ses personnages qui se croient victimes d’ un destin fatal et inchangeable se sentent poursuivis par une puissance invincible et s’ y ré signent. Il semble que la mé thode bachelardienne basé e sur le rê ve et l’ imagination est incapable de les dé livrer du poids intense du mal qui les é crase. N’ ayant aucune conception, ni du monde ni d’ eux-mê mes, ils se contentent uniquement de changer d’ espaces ou de s’ en é vader afin de goû ter la quié tude et le bonheur momentané . Plié s finalement sous le poids de leur ennui intense, leur haine se dé verse soit sur eux-mê mes soit sur autrui. Quels é taient donc les dé sirs enfouis et irré alisables de l’ auteur qui l’ ont poussé s à cré er des destins si tragiques pour ses personnages? Nous chercherons dans cet article, à l’ aide du journal de l’ auteur et par la mé thode psychocritique de Charles Mauron d’ accé der aux fantasmes et au mythe personnel de l’ auteur. IN ENGLISH: The fictional world of Julien Green, this Catholic writer between the two world wars, is governed by a single force: pain in all its forms. Suffering from a sort of overwhelming malaise, his characters who believe themselves victims of a fate and unchangeable destiny and followed by an invincible power resign themselves to it. Having no conception, neither of the world nor of themselves, they are content only to change spaces or to escape to taste the tranquility. Finally bent under the weight of their intense boredom, their hatred is poured either on themselves or on others. What were the buried and unrealistic desires of the author that led him to create such tragic destinies for his characters? In this article, we will use the journal of the author and the psycho-critical method of Charles Mauron to access the author's fantasies and personal myth.
