Abstract

Purpose: To study the status of LIBRARY SERVICES in the MANUSCRIPT section of four libraries: National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI), Parliament library, Astan Quds Razavi library and the University of Tehran Central library.Methodology: In this survey a self-designed questionnaire is used for data gathering.Results: The majority of visitors in all libraries only visit occasionally to correct a MANUSCRIPT or prepare a paper. Satisfaction on working hours were roughly the same in all libraries, this figure is 80%, 83%, 89% and 76% for NLAI, Parliament library, Astan Quds Razavi, and University of Tehran Central Library respectively. Manager's programs to remove barriers of access to MANUSCRIPTs have not been satisfactory for 80% of NLAI, 48% of Parliament library, 63% of Astan Quds Razavi and 53% of University of Tehran Central Library users.Conclusion: LIBRARY SERVICES in MANUSCRIPT sections and removal of barries of access to resources need a fundamental revision specially in NLAI.
