Abstract

Objectives: ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE and effective factors, is always considered by universities and educational institutes. This research has studied relation of HAPPINESS, TIME HORIZON and GENERAL HEALTH with ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE among new entrance STUDENTS of Lorestan University of medical sciences.Methods: In this correlation study 317 STUDENTS were selected by statistic method. Measurement Instrumentals included: Oxford HAPPINESS Questionnaire (OHQ), TIME HORIZON Questionnaire (THQ) and GENERAL HEALTH Questionnaire (GHQ). For measuring ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE, academic average of term was used.Results: Results showed that HAPPINESS, TIME HORIZON (specially, subscale of planning for future) and GENERAL HEALTH has significant quota in predicting ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE (p<0.05). Also, significant difference in ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE, TIME HORIZON (subscale of valuation of present) and GENERAL HEALTH (total GENERAL HEALTH and subscale of social function disorder) is observed between girls and boys STUDENTS (p<0.05), but there is no significant difference in HAPPINESS.Conclusion: Considering relationship between HAPPINESS, TIME HORIZON and GENERAL HEALTH with ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE, it’s necessary to accomplish programs for promotion of mental health and developing happy atmospher.
