Elderly's Attitude toward End-Of-Life Concerns

Abstract

 Introduction: Today, there is a great deal of emphasis on teaching and learning about Elderly/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank">the Elderly’ s concern for death and end of life. This study aimed at investigating the Attitudes of Elderly/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank">the Elderly towards end of life concerns. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 131 healthy elders that had referred to Jahandidegan centers in Tehran were selected by the convenience sampling method. The data collection instrument included a demographic data sheet and Elderly Attitude Questionnaire on end of life. Results: Results showed that the mean and standard deviation of Attitude to end of life concerns was 82. 41 ± 10. 83, indicating moderate and somewhat desirable Attitude. Furthermore, 39. 7% of elders had a poor Attitude, 59. 5% fairly well, and 0. 8 had a good Attitude. There was no statistically significant difference between the Attitudes of Elderly/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank">the Elderly towards the end of life concerns by gender, education, marital status, and occupation. Conclusions: Elderly people have many concerns about the end of life; it is necessary for caregivers and families to focus their care approaches on the most important of these concerns to increase life expectancy and reduce suffering caused by the dying process in Elderly/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank">the Elderly.
