Abstract

Introduction: According to the importance of education in reducing ANXIETY among PATIENTs undergoing surgery, this study was carried out to investigate the effect of blending educational method on ANXIETY in PATIENTs undergoing ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY.Method: In this interventional study 100 PATIENTs who were going to undergo elective ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY in a hospital in Birjand were randomly assigned into two control and intervention groups. Data was collected using standard Spielberg ANXIETY inventory. Collected data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.Results: Mean age of the PATIENTs was 24.27±6.29 years. Mean of ANXIETY between the groups was statistically significant after the intervention (p=0.03). In the intervention group, mean score of ANXIETY before education, before surgery and after discharge were 45.78±6.23, 45.18±6.76 and 45.2±5.31, respectively. A statistically significant relationship was found between the mean score of ANXIETY before education and before surgery (p=0.04).Conclusion: Blending education can be combined with various educational methods to educate PATIENTs individually and in groups in order to reduce their level of ANXIETY.
