Abstract

 Introduction: Types of STUDENTS’ studying and learning approaches play a role in STUDENTS’ satisfaction of courses as well as academic achievements. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of study approach with deliberative practice, course satisfaction and academic achievement.Methods: The method of the study was descriptive-correlation. The statistical population included all the third-, fifth- and seventh-semester NURSING undergraduate STUDENTS of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, and the statistical sample (n=187) was selected through convenient sampling. The data were collected by Questionnaire of Study Approach to Deliberative Practice, which includes 25 items and has been developed by Duvivier et al. (2011), a general item to measure overall satisfaction of the course and the STUDENTS’ averages. For data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics (correlation coefficients, ANOVA, and independent t-test) were used.Results: There was a statistically significant correlation in study approach with deliberative practice, course satisfaction and academic achievement (P=0.001). This correlation was also observed between course satisfaction and academic achievement (P=0.001, r=0.74). The results also showed that with increase in the semester of NURSING STUDENTS, the correlation between components increased too.Conclusions: The results of this study can be used to deal with theoretical problems of NURSING education and preparation to deal with the complexity of the CLINICAL ENVIRONMENT. Therefore, policymakers and educational planners of NURSING education should try to improve the skills of their STUDENTS and help with HEALTH promotion in the community with adopting educational strategies.
