Abstract

Introduction: Self-compassion has been shown to have partial mediation effects on several types of psychopathological problems. Therefore, in the present study we aimed to investigate whether there is any association between work family conflicts and Resilience with selfcompassion among Iranian nurses. Methods: This research is a descriptive-correlation study. The participants were 143 nurses who were selected from Shiraz private hospitals by random sampling method. The sample size was calculated using Cochran formula Data was collected by the use of a validated, well-structured, self-administered questionnaire which had open-ended questions related to Work-family conflicts, Resilience, and Self-compassion. The artificial neural networks model and Spearman correlation tests were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean ± SD scores of Work-family conflict, Resilience and Self-compassion for the nurses were obtained 4. 56± 1. 1986 of 5, 4. 38± 1. 2032, and 4. 73 ± 1. 0967, respectively. As it is obvious the Self-compassion exhibited the highest score. Moreover, artificial neural network analysis showed that Work-family conflict and Resilience positively affected selfcompassion by 31% and 69%, respectively. Conclusions: Based on the findings, nurses who have the Self-compassion have better psychological adjustment to endure daily stresses and problems and resolve their familywork conflicts. Thus, the increase of Self-compassion can serve as an effective factor in improving the clinical performance and productivity of nurses.
