Abstract

 This article is an analytical study of PHILOSOPHY and nature of INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY. The literature and the view points of specialists in this discipline, is reviewed. INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY like other human phenomenon needs philosophical studies regarding its status and application. Application of the technology to solve instructional problems should be done very prudently. In this article the PHILOSOPHY of education, instruction, technology and as a final point, the PHILOSOPHY of INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY were subject of analytical review. The history of INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY reveals the fact that, as an academic discipline – it was used to solve educational problems as a facilitator of learning. It was common to believe that audio visual facet of it was more dominant. However, in the recent decades it is regarded as a scientific major to reckon with. Today, INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY is considered a scientific discipline to be utilized for solving complex instructional problems. Also, this in study three different perspectives: PHILOSOPHY and theoretical development, philosophical research, and personal PHILOSOPHY in the context of its foundation is discussed.
