Abstract

Introduction: DIABETES is a chronic disease that causes progressive disability and precocious deaths. Factors such as genetic, immunological and environment are involved in DIABETES mellitus. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between DIABETES and BLOOD GROUPs.Methodology: This was a cross-sectional study that determined the BLOOD GROUP of 237 diabetic patients compared with 251 control subject.Results: BLOOD GROUP of 237 patients included, 24.9% (59) A, 23.7 % (56) B, 6.3% (15) AB, 45.1% (107) O, and BLOOD GROUP of 251 subjects in the control group included, 63% (25) A, 69% (25.6) B, 18 % (06.8) AB and 101% (42.6) O.Conclusion: This study found no significant association between DIABETES and BLOOD GROUP. The difference between the two groups in terms of RH type was significant (P<0.0001).
