Pages

  98-113

Abstract

This research was conducted to study the relationship between SOCIAL ANOMIE FEELING and SOCIAL STRATIFICATION from one hand and the type of crime committed in Khalkhal city from the other side. The theoretical framework and analytical model were made according to Social Anomy of Durkheim, Opportunity Theory of Clourd and Ohlin, Transmission Zone of Park and Berjes, SOCIAL STRATIFICATION of Wilhelm Benger, Cultural Norms and Social Norms of Austin Turk, Marxist Theory, and Integrated Structural Theory of Calvin and Pauly. The research was done through survey method and data collected through the researcher-made questionnaire. The statistical population consisted of 210 prisoners in Khalkhal of whom 136 individuals were selected via simple random sampling method based on Cookran's formula. Research results indicated that there is a meaningful relationship between feeling of social anomie and the type of crime; social anomie is at a level higher than average among these subjects. Also, there is a meaningful relationship between the CRIME TYPE and SOCIAL STRATIFICATION. Findings showed that, firstly, crime is committed in all social CLASSes and, secondly, individuals belonging to higher CLASSes of the society mostly show a tendency towards systematic, white-collar crimes.
