EFFECTIVENESS OF CREATIVITY THERAPY MODEL ON IMPROVING MOTIVATION AND STUDENTS’ EDUCATIONAL PERFORMANCE

Abstract

 The current research has aimed at investigating the effectiveness of clinical CREATIVITY THERAPY model on improving motivation and EDUCATIONAL PERFORMANCE of high school students. Method: the method of this research was quasi-experimental of pretest-posttest type with the presence of control group. The sample of the study comprised first grade high school students who were studying within academic years 2013/2014 in Tehran. In this research 30 students, who had the weakest EDUCATIONAL PERFORMANCE in the first semester (with the average of 12. 20 to 15. 90), were randomly selected and divided into two groups (experimental and control). Harter questionnaire was applied in order to measure their academic motivation. For experimental group a period of 10 sessions, which took 20 hours, of CREATIVITY THERAPY was held. Results: covariance analysis showed that there was a significant difference in INTRINSIC MOTIVATION between experimental and control group. There was also a significant difference in EDUCATIONAL PERFORMANCE between two groups. Conclusion: The results showed that the clinical CREATIVITY THERAPY model was able to create a significant increase in INTRINSIC MOTIVATION and academic performance of the students in experimental group in comparison with control group.
