Abstract

Hepatitis B is one of the most common infectious diseases globally. It has been estimated that there are 350-400 million chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) carriers worldwide, of whom 75% are Asians. About one-quarter of these will eventually die from the consequences of this chronic infection. Iran is located in the Middle East and has an intermediate prevalence of hepatitis B chronic infection, according to CDC.
