Abstract

Personality (or in other words, the qualities that make up a person’s character) plays a determining role in the lives of human beings, and just for this reason, it has attracted the attention of psychologists. A plethora of research has been done on the subject of PERSONALITY. In all of the researches, it has been proved that physical exercise is the most effective determining factor which affects PERSONALITY. It is considered as a tool that enhances human well-being. It is quiet clear that those completely or partially BLIND tend to become socially withdrawn (unsociable) due to physical inactivity, and this trend leads to undesirable consequences for the individual in particular, and the society at large. The present investigation aimed at comparing certain characteristics of BLIND GOAL-BALL athletes and BLIND non -athletes. The instrument for the study was a sixteen -factor questionnaire (Cattell), of which five factors were employed. The study population was comprised of 75 BLIND male non -athletes and 75 BLIND GOAL-BALL athletes who had been selected by chance. The results of study revealed that there are significant and meaningful differences between athletes and non-athletes with unstable PERSONALITY (A), with independent and stable PERSONALITY (E), and those with strict and logical PERSONALITY (M). There were no significant differences in terms of emotional stability (C) and trust (O) between the two groups.
