Abstract

Introduction: Hearing impairment in children can cause Psychological and communication problems, So the purpose of this research was to investigate the mediating role of Self-Controlled and conflict parents-child in relationship between Psychological Neural Function with Oppositional Defiant Disorder in Deaf Children. Methods: The research method was descriptive-correlational (Structural Equation Modeling) (SEM). The population of this study was Deaf children aged 9 to 12 years with Oppositional Defiant Disorder in the Baghcheban complexes of Tehran in 2019. According to the observed 11 variables and assigning a coefficient of 20 to 220 Deaf children were selected as sample by single stage cluster sampling. Conners' Psychological Neural Function Scale (2004), Self-Control (1982), conflict parents-child Questionnaire (1979), and the Pediatric Symptoms Questionnaire (1984) were used. The model was evaluated using regression equation method and with using the Spss 24 and Amos 23 software. Results: The results showed that there is a significant relationship between self-control, conflict parents-child and Psychological Neural Function with Oppositional Defiant Disorder in Deaf children and 36% of Oppositional Defiant Disorder in Deaf children affected by self-control, conflict parents-child and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Also self-control (-0. 28) and conflict parents-child (0. 14) mediate the relationship between Psychological Neural Function with Oppositional Defiant Disorder in Deaf children (P ≥ 0. 01). Conclusions: In the field of evaluation and treatment of Oppositional Defiant Disorder in Deaf children, special attention is paid to Psychological Neural Function problems with emphasis on developing self-control skills and improving communication environment and can play a decisive role.
