Abstract

Background and Objective: The aim was to compare the serum levels of Vitamin D and Uric Acid and Insulin Resistance in obese subject with and whithout metabolic syndrom in Ahvaz. Subjects and Methods: A total of 86 obese (BMI>30) Diabetes Clinic and had the inclusion criteria were recruited in this study. They were divided in two groups: case (obese with Metabolic Syndrome) and control (obese without any signs of Metabolic Syndrome). Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 22. Results: Vitamin D deficiency was detected in 31 (54. 3%) obese subjects with Metabolic Syndrome and 14 (48. 2%) obese subjects without Metabolic Syndrome. There was no significant difference in serum levels of Vitamin D among obese and non-Metabolic Syndromes (P>0. 05). Insulin Resistance in obese people with Metabolic Syndrome was significantly higher than obese people without Metabolic Syndrome (P <0. 05). Conclusion: Insulin Resistance in obese subjects with Metabolic Syndrome appears to be more common in obese subjects without Metabolic Syndrome.
