Abstract

Background: Orthodonic treatments have been planned to produce a normal relation of dentition. To obtain such relation, normal standards on the basis of CEPHALOMETRIC analysis have to be used. Objective: To establish orthodontic standards and indices of the Iranian race using a COMBINATION ANALYSIS in 12-17 year old students with NORMAL OCCLUSION in Qazvin. Methods: Through a descriptive-analytic method and by clusterd sampling. Out the 4000 students, 66 cephalogram of the students with NORMAL OCCLUSION with the average age of 15.2 were evaluated using COMBINATION ANALYSIS, with respect to the geographical and economical differences of the city. Findings: The resul1s indicated that 69.7% of the students had class I skeletal relation, 16.6% class II, 12.1% bimaxillary protrusion and 12.1% bimaxillary retrusion. Conclusion: It was concluded that standards and indices of each race should be determined and used for orthodontic treatments.
