Abstract

Introduction: Thalassemia is one of the most common hereditary and chronic diseases in the world, and in Parents with a child with this disease the ability to return to normal Quality of Life and adaptation to disease is very important. The aim of this study was to determine the relation between Resilience and Quality of Life in the Parents of children with Thalassemia Major. Methods: This is a descriptive-correlational study that was performed on 165 Parents of children with Thalassemia Major in Zahedan in 2016 who had inclusion criteria. The data collection tool was a demographic data form, a Conner-Davidson resiliency questionnaire, and a SF-36 Quality of Life questionnaire. Data were collected by SPSS software version 22 and analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate linear regression with significance level of 0. 05. Results: The results of the study showed that the spatial variation was 89. 1 ± 17. 1 and life Quality of Life was 97. 9 ± 9. 9 which showed a significant correlation between Spearman correlation coefficient (r = 0. 22, P = 0. 004)), which increased with increasing Quality of Life. Also, there was a significant difference between parenting education with resiliency (P = 0. 02) and Quality of Life with parental education (P < 0. 001). Conclusions: Due to the low relative Quality of Life in the Parents of children with Thalassemia Major, training and follow-up of health care services should be provided by the medical staff to improve their Quality of Life and their children. Also, considering the relationship between Quality of Life and Quality of Life and the level of education of Parents, fundamental and structural measures should be taken to improve the academic literacy of the Parents of people with thalassemia.
