Abstract:

Introduction: Differences in foot structure are thought to be associated with differences in foot function during movement. The aim of this study was to comparison of plantar pressure distribution in runners with different foot types. Methods: 60 male and female runners with normal, flat and cavus foot types participated in this study. Participants ran in 17-m run-way at 3. 3 m/s for six times. Peak plantar pressure, peak plantar force and impulse underneath each region of foot, and medio-lateral and relative time for stance phases were recorded by Footscan® platform. For data analysis, ANOVA and MANOVA with Bonferroni post hoc statistical tests at significance level of 0. 05 were used. Results: Flat feet group have more loading rate in toe1, lesser toes, second metatarsal and midfoot than normal and cavus foot groups. Also, loading rate in fifth metatarsal, lateral and medial heel at cavus group was higher compared to flat and normal groups. Conclusions: It seems individuals with different foot types exhibit different plantar pressure distribution patterns. Future studies are needed to assess other effects of different foot structures especially to identify injury patterns for each group.

Introduction: Chemerin plays an important role in the glucose metabolism and inflammation. It was shown that circulatory levels of chemerin increased in patients with type 2 diabetes. Aquatic exercise has an effect on adipose tissue metabolism, and may modulate the chemerin levels as an adipokine. The purpose of this study was investigate the effect of 12-Weeks aquatic exercise on serum levels of chemerin in men with type 2 diabetes. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 28 men with type 2 diabetes ( age50. 54 ± 6. 19 years old, BMI 27. 22 ± 1. 93 kg/m2) were selected based on our inclusion criteria and randomly divided into experimental (n = 15) and control (n = 13) groups. The experimental group participated in 12-weeks of aquatic exercise (three session per week). Serum levels of chemerin, body fat percent, waist to hip ratio (WHR), body mass index (BMI) and fasting blood sugar (FBS) were measured before and after the 12-weeks aquatic exercise. Data were analyzed using SPSS and ANCOVA was using evaluate the differences between groups. Results: Serum levels of chemerin (P = 0. 044), body fat percent (P = 0. 001), WHR (P = 0. 011) and BMI (P = 0. 001) significantly decreased, but FBS has not significant changes (P = 0. 137) in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusions: It seems that aquatic exercise can play an effective role in the improvement of type 2 diabetes by reducing the chemerin levels and improving the body composition.

Abstract:

Introduction: Thalassemia is one of the most common hereditary and chronic diseases in the world, and in parents with a child with this disease the ability to return to normal quality of life and adaptation to disease is very important. The aim of this study was to determine the relation between resilience and quality of life in the parents of children with thalassemia major. Methods: This is a descriptive-correlational study that was performed on 165 parents of children with thalassemia major in Zahedan in 2016 who had inclusion criteria. The data collection tool was a demographic data form, a Conner-Davidson resiliency questionnaire, and a SF-36 quality of life questionnaire. Data were collected by SPSS software version 22 and analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate linear regression with significance level of 0. 05. Results: The results of the study showed that the spatial variation was 89. 1 ± 17. 1 and life quality of life was 97. 9 ± 9. 9 which showed a significant correlation between Spearman correlation coefficient (r = 0. 22, P = 0. 004)), which increased with increasing quality of life. Also, there was a significant difference between parenting education with resiliency (P = 0. 02) and quality of life with parental education (P < 0. 001). Conclusions: Due to the low relative quality of life in the parents of children with thalassemia major, training and follow-up of health care services should be provided by the medical staff to improve their quality of life and their children. Also, considering the relationship between quality of life and quality of life and the level of education of parents, fundamental and structural measures should be taken to improve the academic literacy of the parents of people with thalassemia.

Introduction: Shoulder pain after stroke is one of the most common types of pain and post-stroke complications, which also reduces the function of the affected hand. Shoulder pain is one of the obstacles to rehabilitation and independence on the patient's daily activities. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of magnetic field therapy on the shoulder pain of patients with subluxation after stroke. Methods: In this double-blind randomized, clinical trial, 36 patients with stroke who referred to the Tabassom rehabilitation stroke center in Tehran, complained of subluxation and shoulder pain, were included in the study by randomized sampling. After assigning patients in two groups of 19, in the intervention group, the magnetic shoulder support with the intensity of 1500 Guess and in the control group were used the shoulder without the magnetic feature for 48 hours continuous. Before and after the intervention, the pain was measured by the visual analog scale (VAS). Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 18 and using descriptive and inferential statistics. The significance level was considered (0. 05). Results: The majority of the intervention group (66. 7%) were women and the control group was male (66. 7%). There was no significant difference between the mean pain score of hands in two groups before intervention. However, after the magnetic therapy, the mean score of pain in the intervention group was significantly decreased (P = 0. 001), but the changes in the control group were not significant. Conclusions: Magnetic therapy in patients with stroke reduces shoulder pain. Magnetic therapy can replace or complement other therapeutic and surgical treatment for shoulder pain.
