Abstract

The purpose of present study is survey of the relationship between the big five PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS and demographic variables with ATTITUDE TOWARD SAFETY in Barfab factory. For this aim, all of 950 employees of organization selected as the statistical society and with Krejcie and Morgan table 270 employees had been chosen randomly manner as the statistical sample. Research tools included the NEO-60 PRI questionnaire and 21- item ATTITUDE TOWARD SAFETY cases observing questionnaire. Statistical analysis consisted of average, standard deviation, frequency, Pearson correlation, enter and stepwise regression using by SPSS 16.The findings showed negative and significant correlation between all dimensions of ATTITUDE TOWARD SAFETY with NEUROTICISM and positive and significant correlation with extraversion, agreeableness and no significant correlation with OPEN TO EXPERIENCE. NEUROTICISM, negatively and agreeableness, positively were predictors of cognitive dimension of ATTITUDE TOWARD SAFETY (P£0.01). CONCIOUSNESS and extraversion positively were predictors of affective dimension of ATTITUDE TOWARD SAFETY (P £0.01). CONCIOUSNESS, positively and NEUROTICISM, negatively were predictors of behavioral dimension of ATTITUDE TOWARD SAFETY (P£0.01). Education level showed significant relationship just in affective dimension and age and job antecedent had no significant relationship.
