Study of Relationship between Information Literacy and Library Anxiety in Graduate Students of Kharazmi University

Abstract

 Objective: The present research examines the relationship between Information literacy and library anxiety in graduate students of Kharazmi University. Methodology: This is a survey research. Research populations include all graduate students of Kharazmi University, 500 students from among them were selected randomly as research samples; while, 402 students returned their questionnaires. Data were gathered through two questionnaires developed according to Information literacy competency standard for higher education and Bostick’ s library anxiety scale. Findings: Findings are indicative of significant relationship between Information literacy and library anxiety in both groups of men and women. Correlation of Information literacy and library anxiety scores in women (P=0. 046), in men (P=0. 046) and in total was (P=0. 009). Correlation of Information literacy and library anxiety scores in master’ s degree students (P=0. 009), in Ph. D. students (P=0. 668), and in total was (P=0. 009). Conclusion: Increase in Information literacy in master’ s degree students, results in decrease of library anxiety. In Ph. D. students, such relationship was not observed. Maximum level of anxiety (39. 3%) relates to mild anxiety.
