The Role of Rumination, Emotion Regulation and Responsiveness to Stress in Predicting of Corona Anxiety (COVID-19) among Nurses

  8-18

Abstract

Introduction: Widespread coronation and quarantine practice have increased coronary anxiety and stress in the community. On the other hand, collective tragedies, especially those involving infectious diseases, often lead to waves of fear and anxiety. The aim of this study was to determine the role of Rumination, Emotion Regulation and responsiveness to stress on predicting the Corona Anxiety among Nurses in Ardabil. Methods: The research method was descriptive-correlational method. The statistical population consisted of Nurses in Ardabil who were members of social networks in the spring of 2020. About 200(136 women and 64 men) of these people participated in the study as a statistical sample, online. To collect data online, Corona Anxiety scale Alipour et al. (2020), ruminant response scale Nolen-Hoeksema (1991), Emotion Regulation questionnaire Gross (1999), and responsiveness to stress Schlotz et al. (2011) were used. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression with stepwise model using SPSS25. Results: The findings showed that Corona Anxiety are positively related to reappraisal (r=-0. 27) and negatively related to repression (r=0. 36), Rumination (r= 0. 65) and responsiveness to Stress (r=0. 41) (p<0. 01). The results of regression analyses showed that the Rumination, reappraisal, suppression, and response to stress predict 51 percent of Corona Anxiety variance. Conclusions: The study results showed that variables of Rumination, Emotion Regulation and response to stress played an effective role in predicting Corona Anxiety. Therefore, interventions focused on these components can be an important protective factor in preventing Nurses from developing anxiety caused by corona.
