Abstract

Aims: Patients with Multiple Sclerosis.often experience a wide range of psychological problems. The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating role of Spiritual Health in the relationship between Irrational Beliefs and Dysfunctional Attitudes with Psychological Well-being in patients with Multiple Sclerosis.using a structural equation modeling approach. Methods: The present study was descriptive and correlational based on structural equation modeling. The statistical population includes all patients with Multiple Sclerosis.who referred to the Iranian Multiple Sclerosis.Association in 2017 and 120 people were selected by convenience sampling method. The data collection tool was a questionnaire and the data were analyzed by SPSS and Lisrel software using regression analysis and path analysis statistical tests. Findings: Findings showed that Irrational Beliefs and Dysfunctional Attitudes have a direct negative effect and Spiritual Health has a direct positive effect on Psychological Well-being in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. Also, the findings of path analysis showed that Spiritual Health plays a mediating role in the relationship between Irrational Beliefs and Psychological Well-being; But the mediating effect of Spiritual Health was not significant in the relationship between Dysfunctional Attitudes and Psychological Well-being. Conclusion: Based on the findings, we conclude that Psychological Well-being in patients with Multiple Sclerosis.can be increased by designing educational interventions based on Irrational Beliefs, Dysfunctional Attitudes and Spiritual Health.
