Abstract

Background: TYPE 2 Diabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases of developing societies. Diabetic RETINOPATHY which is considered as a specific complication in TYPE 2 and 1 diabetes, is one of the most complications of diabetes. Blood sugar control and the duration of the illness and LIPID PROFILE [total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL)] are the most important factors in creating diabetic RETINOPATHY. In this study the effect of LIPID PROFILE in creating RETINOPATHY was evaluated as aside factors.Methods: The study was performed in the form of analytical-sectional. The society under study in this research includes 300 TYPE 2 diabetic patients who have active cases in the center of diabetes of Hamadan city, Iran, during 2013-2014. The relationship between LIPID PROFILE and catching RETINOPATHY were studied in them. The data was analyzed by SPSS software and c2 statistical test.Findings: Altogether 300 patients were studied. 167 people were catching diabetic RETINOPATHY. From 167 people, 34 people suffer from diabetes less than 10 years and 133 people catching diabetes more than 10 years. The statistical analysis done on the similar people regarding to the duration of diabetes didn’t show any significant relationship between LIPID PROFILE and catching RETINOPATHY in TYPE 2 diabetic patients and its acuteness.Conclusion: Based on findings, LIPID PROFILE in TYPE 2 diabetic patients didn’t show any significant relationship with catching RETINOPATHY and its acuteness.
