Abstract

Introduction: Overweight and hypertension are two of the most important health problems. Hence knowing the mean and normal distribution of body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure (BP) in the population is of great importance. We evaluated mean BMI and BP in the over-13 age population of the city of Shahr-e-Kord. Materials and methods: It is a multistage systematic study, in 20.0.7,that height, weight, and systolic/diastolic blood pressure in both arms in sitting and standing positions were measured in over-13 age individuals in the selected population by using the standard method.Results: 1- Mean BMI was 23.74±4.1 and %36.1 of the population was overweight 2- Mean systolic and mean diastolic blood pressure in this study in the right arm in sitting position were 127.2±0.9 mmHg and 80.7±0.2mmHg, respectively (CI=95%). 3- Mean systolic and mean diastolic blood pressure in women were significantly higher than in men (P<0.05).4- Mean systolic and mean diastolic blood pressure show a rising pattern in both sexes with age.Discussion: About t of patients were found to have overweight which can be considered as a risk factor. As in other study, increasing blood pressure is compatible with age.
