Abstract

Introduction: Human papilloma virus (HPV) is associated 0Hh a variety of benign and malignant lesions. The role of HPV infection in BLADDER TRANSITIONAL CELL CARCINOMA (TCC) of BLADDER was investigated in this study.Methods: This descriptive study was performed on 96 cases of BLADDER TCC (28; cases of Grade I, 51 cases of grade II, 17 cases of grade III). All specimens were stained by the immunohistochemistry staining method.Results: Of 96 TCC cases, 17 (17.8%) were HPV positive, most of which (51.3%) were grade n. Hence despite the low frequency of HPV in our specimens, it may have a role in TCC and more extensive studies are recommended.Conclusions: HPV infection in TCC is probably a significant but low occurrence. More extensive studies with other analytical techniques are warranted.
