Abstract

To write commentary on GHARIB OF QURAN is considered among initial scholarly movements of Muslim scholars, and hadith has also played its own role in the appearance of philological investigations. In the time of tabi'in, they needed to write commentaries on GHARIB OF QURAN and that was the first step in Quranic exegesis. Writing on GHARIB OF QURAN and hadith commenced in the second Hijri century and continued up to the present time. In the present essay, we try to discuss generation of sciences of GHARIB OF QURAN and of hadith as well as their development and also major works written on them.
