Abstract

This study shows the PREVALENCE of DENTAL INJURIES including luxations and fractures and their related factors in CHILDREN in the Faculty of Dentistry of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1379. CHILDREN with trauma chief complaint who had come to pediatric department were examined clinically and radiographically and parents were asked about the history.Then a chart was filled including age, gender, the type of occlusion, the involving arch and tooth, the type of injury (luxation or fracture). These information was obtained from 58 examined cases: the PREVALENCE of DENTAL INJURIES in boys were 3.4 times as girls of DENTAL INJURIES in CHILDREN with cl II Div1 permanent occlusion was more than other types of occlusion (51%). The PREVALENCE of fractures in researched society was 39.6% and of luxations was 46.5% 13.8% of the cases had both fractures and luxations. Injuries most happened in maxilla (88%) and the central INCISORS were the most susceptible teeth to trauma (75.5%).
