Abstract

Background and aims: Todays, the use of substances secreted by some PROBIOTIC bacteria as inhibitor and antibacterial substance is in high importance. The aim of this study was to evaluate of antimicrobial activity of Lactobacillus plantarum and ruteri in ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII isolated from NOSOCOMIAL INFECTIONS.Methods: In this experimental study, it was investigated Acinetobacter isolated of 100 patients hospitalized in Milad, Daneshvari and Mofid hospitals in Tehran. ANTIBIOTIC resistance of Acinetobacter with 2 strains of Lactobacillus plantarum and ruteri was determined. The inhibitory activity of 2 Lactobacillus plantarum and ruteri against ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII were determined by using supernatant solution of 48 hours culture of lactobacilli in 2 forms of active and passive according agar well diffusion method. Results: Results showed that Lactobacillus plantarum and ruteri were sensitive to vancomycin, imipenem, ciproflaxin, ceftazidime and resistance to piperacillin, colistin. Cotrimoxazol. ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII was also resistance to vancomycin, cortrimoxazol, piperacillin, ceftazidine, and sensitive to ciproflaxin and imipenem. Supernatant solution of lactobacillus plantarum and ruteri cultur has had more antibacterial activity in presence of hydrogen peroxide and natural pH compared to non-active solution. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that Lactobacillus plantarum and ruteri hadn’t antibacterial activity against ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII in inactive condition, but the culture supernatant lactobacilli had significant activity against strains of hospital pathogens under conditions of acid and hydrogen peroxide solution. Moreover, 2 Lactobacillius (plantarum and ruteri) were nearly resistance to common ANTIBIOTICs.
