Abstract

Bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungous infections in human and animals are related to ABORTION and MYCOPLASMAs are the more prevalent causes of it.Studies about genital MYCOPLASMAin ABORTION have been conducted so far. The present study was designed to investigate the incidence of these micro organisms in the endocervix of women seeking ABORTION in comparison with that of the control group.A sample of 125 women with ABORTION and 250 women as control group was tested by the filtration technique in culture media. The case and control groups were matched based on age, education and job.Results showed that isolated bacteria in aborted cases were higher than control group. 14.4% of the cases were infected with MYCOPLASMA hominis and 31.2% with ureaplasma urealyticum: The statistical analysis showed significant differences between case and control groups, both in MYCOPLASMA hominis and in ureaplasma uralyticum (p<0.05).In conclusion, according to the statistical analysis, there is a significant relationship between these bacteria and ABORTION and presence of these bacteria's in endocervix should be noted and treated.
