Abstract

TUBERCULOSIS is an important infections disease in Iran and due to its cosmopolitan recurrence; it has been taken into serious consideration. This disease was the world's leading cause of death among other causes, accounting for one fatality in every seven cases.This study was conducted to determine the incidence rate of all forms of TUBERCULOSIS and sputum positive PULMONARY TB in Barn during 1995-2000.Mycobacterium TUBERCULOSIS was isolated in 401 patients out of 2486 who referred to physicians and health centers. 56.6% of patients were female and 46.4% were males aged between 2 to 90 years old with mean age of 45.6 years. 53.4 % of patients lived in rural areas and urban areas 5.7 % of cases were in prison. All patients had radiological finding of PULMONARY TB.77% of patients had a positive smear. Regarding the location 80.7% of cases had PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS and 19.2% had infection in the other organs. In 1995, recorded cases of TB were in the highest peak of incidence.
