Abstract

This paper will introduce the local dovectoes as one of the functional aspects of the multi-purpose constructions in the traditional agricultural system in Isfahan of Iran. These constructions, with their traditional technologies, appropriated to the cultural and economic requirments, have been prepared to sewre the human needs related to the ecological conditions of the region. In this study, some technical methods to make these dovectoes and their functions will be considered. In addition to the empirical information of the writer about the subject, it is attempted to review the relevant sources - i.e. the national and international literature-to obtain reasonable answers to the projected research questions. It seems to us that these constructions, and the DOVECOTEs, should have civilizational and historical bases, and the research questions and their answers are oriented to examine these hypotheses.
