COMPARISON OF THE EFFECT OF MEFNAMIC ACID AND CARUMCARVI ON SEVERITY OF PRIMARY DYSMENORRHEA IN MASHHAD HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS (1999-2000)

Abstract

 Background and purpose: About 50% of women experience PRIMARY DYSMENORRHEA with noevidence of primary pelvic disease. Current drugs to treatment of primary dysmenrrhea had contraindication the objective of MEFNAMIC ACID and CARUMCARVI in primary dysmenrrhea.Materials and Methods: This research was a prospective randomized clinical trial study. The cases were 500 high school students (14-18 years) with PRIMARY DYSMENORRHEA that randomaly allocated to five groups with 100 cases in each group. Group I took one CARUMCARVI cap tid, group II took cap CARUMCARVI tid. Group III one cap CARUMCARVI bid, Group W placebo cap tid and group V one MEFNAMIC ACID cap tid. All of these groups were evaluated for 1-3 days in two cycle.Results: There was significant difference in pain relief between placebo group with other groups (P<0.0001). There was a significant difference between group 3 with other groups of caiumcarvi and MEFNAMIC ACID group (P<0.000), and also between group I with group II and MEFNAMIC ACID there was significant difference (P<0.0001).Conclusion: Use of 2 caps of CARUMCARVI tid is more effective than the other groups of CARUMCARVI and there was not significant difference in pain relief between group II and MEFNAMIC ACID group.
