Abstract

The purpost of this study was to evaluate the effect of Group Spiritual Interventions onmental health and SELF-ACTUALIZATION of female students.The statistical population was all of the female students of Shahid Beheshti University (30 female BSe./BA). Students were participated in the study based on public announcements III different places of the university inviting volunteers to participate in the study. All participants answered to the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and the Ahvaz SELF-ACTUALIZATION Inventory (AS AI) as pre-test. Based on results of GHQ participant were matched in paire and randomly assigned into two control and experimental groups.The experimental group participated in 8 of two houres sessions of spiritual interventions. The spiritual interventions was done in four axis: the individual's relationship with god, with nature, with others and with him or herself.The control group didn't received any intervention. The intervention instruments consisted of religious, literary and video materials. When the interventions were done, the GHQ and ASAI were answered again by all particioants as post-test.Results indicated that although the spiritual interventions decreased the GHQ scores, but due to the smallness of the sample group the differences were not significant. In terms of self- actualization howevere, it was revealed that the interventions had significantly the SELF-ACTUALIZATION scores.
