Abstract

 Introduction: Inherent capabilities of the MASS MEDIA in cultural changes, and their effect on behavior and public taste and its position as the dominant source for providing subjective images of cultural expression is undeniable. International media as the new challenges of globalization in various fields, has been involved many health policymakers. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the role of transnational media in NUTRITION health among WOMEN.Methods: The study is a cross-sectional survey. The sample of study includes 618 WOMEN in Shiraz city which were selected through Simple random sampling. Data analysis is carried out using the SPSS software.Results: The findings show a significant difference in DIETary habits of girls in comparison with their mothers. The mean score of DIETary habits of girls is 11.54 while of moders is 8.86, Which is a confirmation of the girls' tendency towards more modern food habits. The mean score of daily use of the Internet and satellite among girls is 1.99 and 2.4 hours, respectively, while of mothers is 0.17 and 2.66 hours a day.Conclusion: The use of MASS MEDIA, especially internet and satellite as an indicator of globalization can encourage the consumption of unhealthy food.
