Abstract

Introduction: Surgical and non surgical endodontic treatment of open apex teeth is very difficult and sometimes is impractical. The usage of a something such as Ca(OH)2 or Hydroxy apatite to produce a plug in apical area of open apex tooth is a proper treatment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the repair of the lesion by the apical plug of hydroxy apatitte in cats open apex teeth radiographically.Materials & Methods: 84 canine teeth from 21 cats were selected in this study. After preparing the canals of 68 teeth from experimental group and producing open apex teeth and lesion in periapex, one visit apexification with 2-3mm apical plug of hydroxy appatite and vertical compaction filling was done.Results: Radiographic evaluation was done in 2 intervals of 3 and 6 months and after 3 months %31.3 of lesion became smaller and %43.8 of lesion showed complete repair and after months %36 of lesion became smaller and %44.4 happened complete repair.Conclusion: These finding suggest hydroxy appatitle for producing a good apical barrier, that osteoinductive property is praper for osteosynthesis and repairing the lesion
