Abstract

Introduction: When bilateral submandibular and sublingual and submental spaces become involved with an infection it is known as Ludwigs angina. It is usually observed after tooth extraction. The infection is often caused by a hemolytic streptococcus it may be mixture of aerobic and anerobic.The patient has a typical open mouth. The floor of mouth is elevated tongue is protruded and breathing is difficult.Results: Treatment consists of massive ANTIBIOTIC (Penicilin with metronidazol) and corticostroide and maintain an air way and SURGERY.
