Abstract

Prevalence of HEAD LICE in PRIMARY SCHOOL students in Yasuj was determined by examination of 12247 students. Lice or nits in hair were seen in 11% (21.8%in girls and 1.6% in boys). Infestation was seen In all of the girl schools and in 51.4% of boy schools. Infestation increased by grade (1 to 5) in girls, thus in fifth grade, PREVALENCE.was highest (26.37%). Presence of health care staff, private or governmental, presence of bathrooms in homes, alow family number, and the use of shared bedc1oth, had a statistically significant relationship with infestation rate (P<0.05). 72.57% of students were not aware of their infestation.
